Try erasing High Fructose Corn Syrup from your diet. You will soon realize what a perilous task this is!
Soda almost always has HFCS, but it is lurking in other surprising items like;
- Fast Foods
- Breads
- Power Bars
- Heinz Ketchup
- Nutri-Grain Items
- Yogurt
- Apple Sauce
- Cottage Cheeses
- Processed Meats
- The list goes ON AND ON.
Why Should We Avoid HFCS?
Americans currently ingest 3x more sugars than what we need daily, an average of almost half- a pound of sugar per day! People do not realize this because sugar is hidden in many unsuspecting items. It is very unhealthy to digest high amounts of sugar!
-High levels of mercury have been found in samples of HFCS.
-HFCS has only been ingested by humans for about 20 years, and it’s long term effects are unknown, essentially making our generation test subjects for the future.
-American consumption is higher than any other country making some blame HFCS directly for the American Obesity and Diabetes epidemic as well as attention deficit disorders.
- tooth decay
- heart disease
- dementia
- cancers
- liver problems
What is HFCS?
- Fructose, is a type of sugar that is very hard to break down and is a process done completely by the liver, making high levels of HFCS especially bad for the liver.
This is very comprehensive research on how we process different kinds of Sugar.
-HFCS is an unnatural highly processed sugar, derived only from corn, it is very cheap to manufacture.
-It is a type of sugar that is not replicated anywhere else in nature, matter of fact, our bodies cannot break down the sugars in HFCS completely.
How do I avoid HFCS?
Skip the highly packaged and colorful foods. Also, replace white sugar with Honey, a much healthier and natural sweetener.
Also, lower or completely eliminate Soda beverages from your daily diet.
Nifty Trick #2
If you do not already, Read Food Labels religiously! Very
quickly you will begin to realize what foods to avoid.
The first ingredient listed has the highest concentration,
with the following ingredient having the second largest amount and so on.
And if a food has more than 15 ingredients, it is probably no good!
Me taking my time at the grocery store comparing ingredients. (Both contained HFCS!) |
Stay Sweet & Nifty! :)
